If I'm being honest, I'm not really happy about this whole blogging thing at the moment.
I constantly feel like changing the appearance of my blog as days I feel it's too childish or too boring. Whenever anyone gives advise on a successful blog they always mention it's layout. Visuals are what attract people to a blog and I feel mine doesn't do that. The problem is I'm never happy with it, I can't find a style that truly represents 'ezzlepops' which I really like.
Another thing it's lacking is content. I've really been struggling to sit down and actually create worthy content. Content that people enjoy reading and share with others or content which draws people in that they come back every week.
So here's what I'm asking...
What makes you sit down and read a blog post?
What type of posts do you like reading?
If you ran 'ezzlepops' what would you change?
Please, be honest with your answers. Feedback on this kind on this topic, to me, is the most important thing and I would really appreciate your opinions.

Honestly, I think that if you're passionate about something, your readers will like what you post because you like it. Personally, I love to read posts that the blogger loved to write, you can completely tell! And as for your layout, change whatever you don't like, at the end of the day, it's completely yours. But I do like your layout, and I love your blog xx

Thank you Lou x
DeleteI like reading posts where I can see that the person is totally being themselves, to me the content will always be great if they spend time on it and are producing something that they are proud of!
ReplyDeleteI think that you should create a header that really represents you and your blog, check out this blog her header is amazing and she created it herself www.ccmybaby.blogspot.com. I created a header for my blog too, it's not spectacular but I like it. If you are having serious troubles with your blog design, start from scratch! (it's what I did and I finally came to something that I liked)!

DeleteThat's true honesty that people can look up to you for. The best thing for content that you can do, is from what you would love to do. With blogging, you can try different ways of saying something, to how you can format your words, plus what you feature on it. I've not been into blogging from the start, because I wasn't interested with reading loads on screen. Growing with age, and a difference in attitude helped me.
ReplyDeleteFor layouts of your blog, trust me it takes time. You could make some, or just rumage around the internet or take pictures, or anything. To even preview your layouts, and seeing what other people will see helps very much. Change and change again, until you're satifised with it. It's always good, even for experiments and experiencing different ways. Take care always, and hope you'll find what you like, to loving your blog. Hope this helps a little.
Thank you for the help! x
DeleteI agree with everyone about the whole honesty thing! My blog got kind of lifeless when I consciously tried to post about things that would be popular and design it so people would like it. It's so much more fun to just write what I want and create a design that I enjoy looking at. There are literally thousands of blogs out there, so I decided that trying to look or sound like another blog, even the most popular ones, wasn't going to get me anywhere! You're you, and so you have a voice that no one else does. Write about the things that you can't stop thinking about.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you want some help with the technical side of blog designing, I'm totally willing to share my (albiet pretty limited) knowledge with you!
If I have any questions I know who to ask! Thank you x
DeleteI'm literally the same as you! i'm struggling with it all aswell, but so many people have told me not to stress and write when i feel like it or write about things that mean something to me and so far it has helped, i have stopped stressing about what to write and sticking to a blogging schedule. as for your layout make it something you love! if that changes every week then so be it!

I constantly find lists of ideas and start posts but never know what to add to them so they just end up sat in my drafts folder :(
