The Prom Edit

Some of my regular readers may have noticed I have been a bit MIA this month on my blog. June has been hectic with two weeks of work experience, various fundraising activities and lots of prep for events. One of those events being my school dance...or "prom" as people call it. To make up for my disappearance this month I have decided to combine lots of little ideas into one big post dedicated to all things prom!

The biggest dilemma any girl will have is finding "the dress". Hours will be spent searching the racks and browsing online in order to find it but trust me it's out there somewhere! Here are some websites that may be useful for you;
Debenhams
Coast
Quiz clothing
asos
Miss Selfridge
boohoo
Little Mistress
Chi Chi London

I am obsessed with Pinterest and where better to look for inspiration for your hair and makeup! Girls, you don't need to spend money for someone to do it for you and it turn out differently to how you expected...don't get me wrong, every girl loves her hair and makeup done professionally but it can be expensive and you're not in control. Find a style and get practising!

Matching everything together can be difficult! If in doubt go for simple things...delicate jewelery and block colour clutches. As for shoes, choose something you can walk in. There's really no point in buying really high heels that you're only going to wear once if you spend your night hobbling along trying not to trip. I've heard stories of girls taking a pair of flats in their bag to wear if they get sore feet or to dance in but what really is the point? Just take your heels off and go bare foot...It's easier and you don't have to worry about finding a second matching pair of shoes.

I am one of those people who over pack for anything which is why I though I would include a little check list of essentials for a prom clutch. Obviously your phone and ticket, some spare cash in case you have to get a taxi anywhere and your lip gloss or lipstick if you want to top it up over the course of the night.

Here are some things to remember and other tips to ensure you have a close to perfect night!

1. Make sure to book all your appointments in advance for between a week and a few days before your dance...you don't want to still have red marks from and eyebrow wax or for your spray tan to go wrong!
2. When choosing a dress make sure you're comfortable in it, there's nothing worse than not being able to dance or feel self-conscience all night.
3. Have plans with your friends for before and after the event
4. Don't be the one that spends the night sat down...get up and dance the night away!
5. So what if you don't have a date? Don't let that bother you and just enjoy your night.
6. Remember to try and take as many photos as possible or else you'll regret it.

But most importantly...have fun!!!

Esmee x
