Busy Bees

My prelims finished a couple of weeks ago and I have finally got my results back...five As and three Bs! And what is even better is that one of those Bs was for English! For those of you who don't know me, I really struggle with English and I thought then prelim was quite tricky...so I am thrilled that I managed to pass!

Right now, I am currently supposed to be writing my reflective piece for my folio, so far it's going alright but I have chosen quite a personal issue and finding it difficult to put down my feelings onto a piece of paper.

I'm also stressing out about my Art portfolio as I feel like I'm falling behind which I desperately wanted to avoid! What is worse is now my teacher is stressing out too which doesn't help when I need a answer to a question!!
Word of warning to those of you who don't own a Mac...they are incredibly confusing and complicated to use, especially with design software such as Photoshop or InDesign...soon you think you know what you're doing, then something else goes wrong!
(If anyone has any tips that would be much appreciated!!)

Today's quote is:

Sorry for a short post...I've stared so many but just have no idea how to expand and finish them!
In addition I do have quite a bit of course work to be doing so I'll just have to see when I have some spare time!

Just Another Boyband

Last Wednesday (22/01/14) Tom Parker, Nathan Sykes, Max George, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran announced that The Wanted would be taking a break. And obviously this caused a lot of distress and sadness on my twitter timeline.

Quote from The Wanted Life by Jay McGuiness

To most people they are just another boyband but to so many people they mean so much more. They have changed the lives of so many people, so therefore this split (and directioners making fun of it) is heartbreaking as the five guys who said they would always be there are going their separate ways.

For those of you who don't know, The Wanted used to have a thing called "Wanted Wednesday" and every Wednesday they would send a mailer around and upload a video to YouTube.

I've read so many stories about how these five guys have helped so many people with being confident in who they are and staying strong. So I thought I'd share just a little how they helped me. Roughly about four years ago I was struggling at school, not academically but socially as I was being pushed away by anybody I classed as my friend. I felt isolated therefore at break and lunch times I used to sit with my headphones in listening to music.
 Listening to The Wanted.
Whenever I heard their voices, whether on the radio, the telly, the flip or just listening to their songs, a smile would spread across my face. They never failed to cheer me up.
Things at school were going so badly that my grades began to drop and I was miserable all the time which began to affect my family as well. That's when my parents suggested moving schools. I didn't know what to think about this, whether to go with my heart and move as it would be a fresh start or my head and stay where I was because I was scared things would repeat.
One day I was on twitter and so was Max from the band so I tweeted him asking if I could talk to him...and he replied! That was something I was not expecting at all! After briefly explaining things to him, he replied again telling me to follow my heart as he said...
"I'd see it out and I'm sure you won't regret it x"
So I did. And it's been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am so much happier now and I am so thankful of Max and the other boys for helping me to stay strong throughout my struggles.

The thing that upsets me the most about the break they are taking, is that now I might not get the chance to meet them to tell them how much they mean to me and to actually thank Max George in person. For basically changing my life and shaping me to who I am today.

Response to Marcus Butler's recent video - (posted on the 14th January 2014)

A matter of minutes ago Marcus Butler uploaded a video about bullying and self belief on his youtube channel (I will link the video below) and it really inspired me.

I haven't been bullied as such but I've witnessed it happen to quite a few people but I've always stayed quite and haven't mentioned it to anyone that could help. I've also seen a bully gain "power" over their "victim" as he or she has reacted to the bullying and has either gotten upset over it or angry about it.

I agree with him to certain extent about the teachers at school being able to help. Yes some teachers will know how to handle a situation but most of them don't and the issue gets passed around members of staff and when the result of the issue finally gets back to the victim so many people know about the problem, which I guess could be a good thing but is also a bad thing because it results in more 'bullying' to say. The bully gets spoken to and the teachers believe that's the end of it but really it can just make things a lot worse.

He puts forward a message that everyone needs to realise and learn from which is:
"no matter what you do in life, you are always gonna have somebody who is trying to take you down"
And because of this we should all do what we want rather than listening to what people are saying about you. At the end of the day it's your life and you should do what you want.
(in a way this links to my previous post HERE)

Like what YOU want!!

Recently, I have been made to feel like I'm not allowed or shouldn't like certain things; whether that's people, places or items, because of other peoples opinions about it.
I've felt like this quite a few times but most recently about Sam Callahan.

For those of you who don't know who he is (where have you been?!?!) he is a 19 year old singer songwriter from Essex who came 7th on The X Factor in 2013.

But I knew of Sam before he featured on The X Factor and before he became verified on twitter...back when he looked like this with his fringe and tan-less skin.

this photo also happens to be my laptop background :P

And recently I've felt like I'm not allowed to like Sam due to the opinions of the media, people on social networking but also by my friends. It was really getting me down and because of it, I felt distant from his fanbase; his 'Callafans' or 'Callafan Army'. So much so that I tweeted him about it...and he replied! He made me feel better about it because he had noticed my tweet over hundreds of others.

Now this blog post isn't just about me (although it seems like it has been...oops) but my experiences can help others too.

Just because your best friend or family member or someone who works in the media doesn't like something you like, why should that stop you? It's not up to them what you can and can't like, it's up to you so if you love or hate something.

Other peoples opinions are allowed to influence you but shouldn't take over your life!

Ways of Communication

Although I should be revising for my prelims (Scottish equivalent to mocks) I got a little distracted by blogging...I'VE HAD 200+ PAGEVIEWS! That may not seem like many but I honestly never expected to get more that 10!

So as I'm on a bit of a role I thought I'd give you the ways in which you may stalk me (I mean ways you can get in touch ;)), give me feedback or suggest ideas etc.

or you can just comment on here!

Your feedback would be much appreciated!
