The Prom Edit

Some of my regular readers may have noticed I have been a bit MIA this month on my blog. June has been hectic with two weeks of work experience, various fundraising activities and lots of prep for events. One of those events being my school dance...or "prom" as people call it. To make up for my disappearance this month I have decided to combine lots of little ideas into one big post dedicated to all things prom!

The biggest dilemma any girl will have is finding "the dress". Hours will be spent searching the racks and browsing online in order to find it but trust me it's out there somewhere! Here are some websites that may be useful for you;
Debenhams
Coast
Quiz clothing
asos
Miss Selfridge
boohoo
Little Mistress
Chi Chi London

I am obsessed with Pinterest and where better to look for inspiration for your hair and makeup! Girls, you don't need to spend money for someone to do it for you and it turn out differently to how you expected...don't get me wrong, every girl loves her hair and makeup done professionally but it can be expensive and you're not in control. Find a style and get practising!

Matching everything together can be difficult! If in doubt go for simple things...delicate jewelery and block colour clutches. As for shoes, choose something you can walk in. There's really no point in buying really high heels that you're only going to wear once if you spend your night hobbling along trying not to trip. I've heard stories of girls taking a pair of flats in their bag to wear if they get sore feet or to dance in but what really is the point? Just take your heels off and go bare foot...It's easier and you don't have to worry about finding a second matching pair of shoes.

I am one of those people who over pack for anything which is why I though I would include a little check list of essentials for a prom clutch. Obviously your phone and ticket, some spare cash in case you have to get a taxi anywhere and your lip gloss or lipstick if you want to top it up over the course of the night.

Here are some things to remember and other tips to ensure you have a close to perfect night!

1. Make sure to book all your appointments in advance for between a week and a few days before your dance...you don't want to still have red marks from and eyebrow wax or for your spray tan to go wrong!
2. When choosing a dress make sure you're comfortable in it, there's nothing worse than not being able to dance or feel self-conscience all night.
3. Have plans with your friends for before and after the event
4. Don't be the one that spends the night sat down...get up and dance the night away!
5. So what if you don't have a date? Don't let that bother you and just enjoy your night.
6. Remember to try and take as many photos as possible or else you'll regret it.

But most importantly...have fun!!!

How do you get up from an All Time Low?

Yesterday was a very difficult day.
I had a pretty big meltdown which is never fun. Luckily no one was around to witness it as I didn't want to explain myself to anyone in person.

I woke up at about half nine but didn't get out of bed until one when mum came back with my sister from a swimming competition. After I realised what the time was, there was really no point in getting ready for the day as I'd wasted half of it already. Bad decision as that just made me feel worse. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror without getting upset (not because I was still wearing my pjs) but I could see every single one of my flaws clearer than ever.

Not eating didn't help either. The thought of food just made me feel sick. Eventually I ended up eating an entire bag of microwaveable pop corn which I don't even feel guilty about.

I should be glad that my exams are over, at the time of walking out that exam room I was so happy that they we're finally over, but now I'm dreading going back to school. And I'm not entirely sure why.

One of my biggest fears is feeling alone. Even though friends where only a message away, I still felt incredibly alone and ignored yesterday which caused me to have a mini breakdown multiple times. I always feel like I'm annoying someone by sending them a message but then begin to get worked up and overthink situations so easily which begins to upset me and in most cases I make stupid mistakes which I regret instantly.

The weather outside seems to be on the same rollercoaster as me. One minute it's sunny and the next it's hailing...much like my mood swings yesterday.

I feel like I just need to get away for a bit...luckily enough for me I only have a month left till summer!

The Bella's Are BACK

Disclaimer; This post may contain small spoilers.

"The Bella's are back, and they are better than ever. After being humiliated in front of none other than the President of the United States of America, the Bella's are taken out of the Aca-Circuit. In order to clear their name and regain their status, the Bella's take on a seemingly impossible task: winning an International competition no American team has ever won. In order to accomplish this monumental task, they need to strengthen the bonds of friendship and sisterhood, and blow away the competition with their amazing aca-magic! With all new friends and old rivals tagging along for the trip, the Bella's can hopefully accomplish their dreams once again."

That's right Aca-b*tches. The Barden Bella's are back for a second movie and are ready to have you singing along.

Hands down Pitch Perfect is one of my favourite movies by far...I even went to see it twice at the cinema. And after some pretty stressful exams, a trip to the cinema had to be planned.

It could be said that the story line is pretty identical to the first with new twists. There are new characters such as Bella legacy Emily Junk and Das Sound Machine as well as the return of characters who would have graduated or left in the last movie; Aubrey Posen and Bumper Allen. One thing that did disappoint me was how littler there was of Skylar Astin aka Jesse, he's there at the beginning preforming as the lead of the Treblemakers but shortly disappears and only reappears with Benji when the Bella's are smashing it at the worlds.
Beca no longer works at the Radio Station and is instead interning for a music producer which she tries to impress with the mash-up we heard in the first movie. After being given a second chance to show her skills Beca asks singer songwriter Emily if she would like to collaborate on something. Queue ultra-catchy song about a flashlight which features throughout the movie.
Talking of music, pretty much everything is a mash-up bar a few songs and Cups is back. But this time sung round a campfire as part of the Bella's finding their sound again at Aubrey's outdoor summer-type camp. Speaking of which actually looks like it would be so much fun!
There are a few more romances this time; Beca and Jesse are still together, Benji takes an interest in the new Bella and of course there is something going on between Bumper and Fat Amy. In any other movie this would be typical and so cheesy/cringey...Bumper confesses his love for Fat Amy in an incredibly romantic way which completely contrasts with his character traits. However, after pouring his heart out and shedding some tears everything doesn't as planned...until later.
After a mash-up emphasising the power of women, back is the song about the flashlight. The stage falls to darkness with a single spot light on Beca which grows as more of the Bella's join in with the song. As the chorus kicks in so does the lights and cheers. The Bella's we have followed in the movie are joined on stage by generations of past Bella's to celebrate them competing in the World's.

Have you see the Pitch Perfect 2 yet? Are are you planning on going soon? If you get the chance, definitely go!

It's been a while... // Life Update

It's been a while since I've done a post like this so I thought I'd give you a little update on whats been going on in my life recently.

I have officially finished 5th year and after exams I will be in my last year of school...how scary is that! I have no idea how I'm going to be able to cope when I leave school :P
Although I am looking forward to 6th year for many reasons...one being only 3 subjects and many free periods!

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about my lack of motivation...turns out I still haven't gained any. I had my first exam on Friday which was English (the subject I hate the most!) and surprisingly if went well which I wasn't expecting.

One thing that I'm really happy about is two of my best friends from my old school aren't going away next year. One will be at college and one at uni up here and if they don't stay at home they're only an hours drive away!

Talking of driving...I have finally got a date for my first lesson! Only problem is it's two months away :/

I would like to apologise for my lack of involvement in the blogging communities I am members of as well as lack of content on here this past month. I wish I could blame this on exams but to be honest I really can't.

Last Saturday, I went to my fourth Tartan Gig which was a lot of fun! The line up this year was; Rixton, Karen Harding, Only The Young, Nina Nesbitt, Conor Maynard, Neon Jungle and Labrinth. Photos can be found on my Instagram: @ezzlepops

When I go back to school, after work experience, I have a few weeks until it's my school dance. I have my dress and I know how doing my makeup, mums friend kindly offered to do my hair so I don't need to worry about that mess. All I have left to do is sort out shoes, bag and accessories...oh and plan what I'm doing before hand and after!

There are some other stuff going on in my life at the moment but as these are more personal things I've decided I'm going to keep quiet about them on my blog. I know that this is mainly a lifestyle blog and that I've talking about my personal life quite a bit before, I just feel like because this is new to me that I want to keep it a little secret for as long as I can. I hope you don't mind!

Last night I spent about an hour or so on the phone to my best friend from school and some of the things she said made me think about friendships I've had in the past. I've known this girl for less than 6 months yet she cares more about me than some of the girls I knew for years did. I felt so loved and special that one of the things she wanted the most was for me to be happy.

Long time readers of my blog will know I've done posts like this in the past, but for those who read the occasional post or every post...what do you think about blog posts like this? Let me know your thoughts in the comments :)

Bucket List:The Met Gala

Last year I wrote a post very similar to this one about how going to Coachella was on my bucket list and after flicking through all the photos from the 2015 Met Gala, it's made me really want to go, experience the gigantic red carpet (obviously not walking down it myself!) and take my own photos of the dresses worn. The theme this year was China Through the Looking Glass and its fair to say everyone took that differently!
I wanted to share a few of my favourite looks with you guys this week :)

Cara Delevingne
This girl could wear literally anything and still look amazing! I love the face that she chose trousers over a dress and is rocking those temporary cherry blossom tattoos. Definitely a unique twist on the theme.

Gigi Hadid
Current top celebrity girl crush! Gigi looks stunning in the red number and I'm incredibly jealous. Red is definitely her colour! Also look at her shoes...not I'm not a huge pointy toe open shoe kind of girl but I love these so much.

Karlie Kloss
Ex-Victoria Secrets model Karlie Kloss seems to be everywhere these days! Along with Gigi, she is currently one of my celebrity girl crushes at the moment. The upper part of her dress hugs her model figure and the sheer underneath shows off her incredible legs.

Miranda Kerr
Stunning yet I can't believe she is 32!! Being different and choosing a short dress for this event allows Miranda Kerr to stand out on the red carpet. The minimal hair, makeup and accessories draw attention to the intricate pattern of her dress clashing with the zig-zag sequins on the sleeves.

Kendall Jenner
My favourite member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. The colour of this dress really compliments her skin tone and eyes without being too "in-your-face" like he other family member's choices. Kendall is still young and I love that even though the sides are laced up showing a little side-boob, she hasn't gone too revealing.

Kate Hudson
Everyone needs a bit of sparkle in their life and Kate is winning with this floor length gold number. How I wish I owned this dress!

Uma Thurman
This is probably actually my favourite dress from the Met Gala and definitely something I would choose to wear. It's just a really classic and traditional white statement dress and Uma looks flawless.

Beyonce
How could I not talk about Queen B?! Flaunting that hourglass figure in what can only be described at sheer and sparkles. She definitely stole the show and had everyone talking about her look!

What was your favourite Mat Gala look?
