7 Lies us girls tell...

Some of those little white lies us girls can't help but say...

"Just leaving now"
She says as she finally decides what to wear or finishes her makeup. Don't expect so see her for another half hour max.

"I'll do it tomorrow"
Not necessarily specific to girls but I feel we all say it enough to be included in this list.

"Time to give up [item]" or
"Diet starts on Monday"
Some girls, me included, are forever deciding to give up certain things in order to improve themselves. Normally it's some kind of food (chocolate, crisps, pizza, junk, alcohol...you get the idea) or occasionally it will be from buying a certain product.
Building up to a new health kick and pigging out on the weekend in preparation to saying goodbye to the junk food, only to forget half way through Monday and give in to temptations. Girls don't lie...we've all been there before.

"I have nothing to wear"
I laugh whenever I hear this line yet we're all guilty of it. A girl get invited out and feels they need something new to wear or they don't own anything suitable for the occasion. Mainly because they've worn the majority of wardrobe already and God forbid anyone sees them in the same outfit again or people notice in pictures.

"I'm over it"
She's not over it. Simple as that. Watch out though because those three little words could come with some serious attitude and typically she is either upset and on the verge of tears or angry and throwing daggers. Be Careful.

"Nothings wrong, I'm fine"
Probably the most common one...ever. If a girl ever says this 1) something is wrong and 2) she is not fine. Even if she just says "I'm fine" chances are she's not. Give her a hug and let her spill her heart out just whatever you do...do not say "Everything's going to be okay".

"It's cool." Or "It's fine."
9 times out of 10 it's really not cool or fine. Don't believe it. It's a girls way of being completely blunt with the situation. If a girl says this to you (especially if she ignores you for a while afterwards) you should know what you've done wrong and don't need an explanation.

An Apology...

Those two little words..."I'm sorry".

Recently I've found myself saying that a lot. And not just in the typically British way...in the genuine "I've f*cked up" way. I wanted to take this opportunity to apologise for various things to various people.

Let's start with those that read my blog and members of the same blogging communities as me. I'm sorry for the lack of content on here recently and with how distant I've been. I wish I could blame it on being super busy and struggling to find time but it's not. It's sheer laziness and a great big lack of motivation. I start posts and write a few lines or even just the title but then they get forgotten or I can't find the words to expand them. And I feel embarrassed by how shocking they are that I just delete the words I've just typed...like I've almost done here.

Next to my family. I have never been the "perfect daughter" to my parents or the "good role-model" to my little sisters. I feel like I'm sometimes I really let them down, and even though they'll probably never read this I just wanted to apologise for it.

Most of all I'm sorry to all those who have listened to me to me rant and rave and break down many many times. Thank you also for putting up with that and sticking by me over the years when others couldn't handle me. I want to apologise for always talking about myself and my life, most recently more than ever. There have been times when some of you needed me but I was to absorbed in my own little bubble to realise that and I'm sorry I didn't notice earlier.

I'm sorry I couldn't be the girl you wanted to me to be. That I didn't live up to expectations. I doubt what I say and what I do because I don't want to let you down or be a disappointment. I wanted to be the one that makes you smile and cheers you up when you're feeling down but it looks like I'm not able to do that. And I don't know what to do to change things.

Fingers crossed I can get things back to how they used to be but I'm not gonna make any promises that I know I might not be able to keep! Until next time...

Reaching that important target!

In a years time, my Girl Guiding friends and I will be heading off on a trip to Switzerland to celebrate 100 years of Senior Section. I'm order to do this though a lot of fundraising has to be done to reach our target...and we seem to have hit a brick wall with ideas.

So far we've held bake sales and coffee mornings. Helped with the local panto and received a donation. Bag packed at various supermarkets in the area. And after summer we have a quiz night, photo shoots and Halloween disco planned. These have raised a lot but not enough for 20 of us to go.

Here's where I need your help. Have you had to do fundraising for something? What activities did you do in order to reach your targets? If not, do you have any fun and cool ways of raising a bit of cash? Let me know in the comments please! And I'll remember to keep you updated on how it's all going!

The Prom Edit

Some of my regular readers may have noticed I have been a bit MIA this month on my blog. June has been hectic with two weeks of work experience, various fundraising activities and lots of prep for events. One of those events being my school dance...or "prom" as people call it. To make up for my disappearance this month I have decided to combine lots of little ideas into one big post dedicated to all things prom!

The biggest dilemma any girl will have is finding "the dress". Hours will be spent searching the racks and browsing online in order to find it but trust me it's out there somewhere! Here are some websites that may be useful for you;
Debenhams
Coast
Quiz clothing
asos
Miss Selfridge
boohoo
Little Mistress
Chi Chi London

I am obsessed with Pinterest and where better to look for inspiration for your hair and makeup! Girls, you don't need to spend money for someone to do it for you and it turn out differently to how you expected...don't get me wrong, every girl loves her hair and makeup done professionally but it can be expensive and you're not in control. Find a style and get practising!

Matching everything together can be difficult! If in doubt go for simple things...delicate jewelery and block colour clutches. As for shoes, choose something you can walk in. There's really no point in buying really high heels that you're only going to wear once if you spend your night hobbling along trying not to trip. I've heard stories of girls taking a pair of flats in their bag to wear if they get sore feet or to dance in but what really is the point? Just take your heels off and go bare foot...It's easier and you don't have to worry about finding a second matching pair of shoes.

I am one of those people who over pack for anything which is why I though I would include a little check list of essentials for a prom clutch. Obviously your phone and ticket, some spare cash in case you have to get a taxi anywhere and your lip gloss or lipstick if you want to top it up over the course of the night.

Here are some things to remember and other tips to ensure you have a close to perfect night!

1. Make sure to book all your appointments in advance for between a week and a few days before your dance...you don't want to still have red marks from and eyebrow wax or for your spray tan to go wrong!
2. When choosing a dress make sure you're comfortable in it, there's nothing worse than not being able to dance or feel self-conscience all night.
3. Have plans with your friends for before and after the event
4. Don't be the one that spends the night sat down...get up and dance the night away!
5. So what if you don't have a date? Don't let that bother you and just enjoy your night.
6. Remember to try and take as many photos as possible or else you'll regret it.

But most importantly...have fun!!!
